DEFINING YOUR OWN IDENTITY - THE KEY TO SUCCESS
As an project manager with a ability to think outside the box, I have encountered the challenge of letting others define who I am. It can be dangerous to allow others to put labels on us, especially in a professional or identity-related context where we are struggling to find our own path. The risk is that we start to adapt to others' expectations and lose touch with our true identity. This can lead to us failing to fulfill the goals that others have set for us, as they do not align with our own strengths and abilities.

STAND FIRM IN WHO YOU ARE
Instead, we should stand firm in who we are and dare to showcase our unique perspectives and solutions. Our unconventional way of thinking and problem-solving can be our greatest asset, even if it may be perceived as unexpected or unconventional. By being true to ourselves and our own methods, we can thrive in our careers and contribute valuable insights that others may not see. We do not need to be afraid of challenging established truths - that may be precisely what leads us to success.

BE PROUD OF YOUR UNIQUE EXPERTISE
As I have discovered myself, our ability to adapt and see opportunities where others see obstacles can be an invaluable asset. It is our unique expertise that makes us sought-after partners in business development and project management. Do not let others define who you are. Be proud of your ability to think differently and dare to challenge conventional mindsets. That is precisely what can make you a valuable asset in all the projects you participate in.

Professional identity is the self-concept that individuals form around their roles in the workplace, incorporating the values, beliefs, and behaviors specific to their professional setting. It is how professionals perceive themselves and believe they are perceived by others within their industry. Developing a strong professional identity is crucial, as it directly influences career satisfaction, adherence to ethical practices, and resilience in overcoming workplace challenges. To define your own professional identity, you should:

  1. Engage in continuous learning to keep up with industry trends and advancements. This expands your knowledge base and solidifies your role as a dedicated and capable professional.
  2. Seek out mentors and network with peers to gain insights and feedback. Effective networking is crucial for understanding various professional identities and refining your own based on observed best practices.
  3. Regularly reflect on your professional experiences and evaluate your growth. This introspection is key to ensuring your professional identity aligns with your evolving career objectives.
  4. Embrace change and adapt to new roles or challenges. Flexibility is essential for maintaining a resilient professional identity, enabling you to succeed in diverse situations.
  5. Stand firm in your unique perspectives and solutions, even if they are unconventional. Your ability to think differently can be your greatest asset.

By taking these steps, you can define a professional identity that is true to your values, strengths, and aspirations, rather than allowing others to put labels on you. This will make you a valuable asset in all the projects you participate in.

Who are we? Marcus asks us to question how our identities are formed. Using Somos Brasil (We are Brazil), a multi media photography, sound and DNA project, he brings us images, stories and ancestral DNA to examine modern Brazilian identity. In turn he asks us to consider what drives us and what we can become.

This is the story of a writer who, after having great success with his first book, has a disastrous creative block. So much so, that not even the pencils want to write for him. In her anguish for him, a delivery girl arrives at his door and delivers a mysterious box. After inviting her in for coffee, they share a pleasant conversation about fame and success. What's in the box?... No one knows what inspiration can be wrapped up in. "Who are you?" is the new short film from the creators of "The Gift"
